Samsung S8 Ultra as a writing tool

I bought an S8 Ultra tablet a few months go primarily to read comic books on but recently I had a good amount of points on my Amazon Visa so I got the official keyboard cover for it. Today I\’m using it at work on lunch and thinking I might use it more often on the go. For writing at least.

I\’ll have to test it for drawing too. I\’m interested in transitioning to my own illustrations in my website development activities. I really do like the work the AI\’s produce but it would be better if I developed my drawing skills probably. One way to do that is on a tablet like this with lots of stats as tablets go these days.

Media consuption is a strong point on the S8 Ultra. Comic books look great but with the case I\’m using now it sits just like a laptop provided it\’s on a flat surface. Viewing video and such should be stellar on this screen compared to say my iPhone which really isn\’t that bad. I\’d be curious how the battery fairs.

The other app I\’m using is the WordPress app for Android. I like it on this tablet. In a way it\’s not as encumbered. I\’m not using the tablet to make illustrations with AI for instance. Even on my chromebook I tend to multitask a lot more. I\’m sure you could do it on this and in time I might but not at the moment.

The tablet is supposed to have a decent camera too. It would be interesting to use for say product photos where you could import it directly and edit it then upload it to WP. Then again I do have a number of cameras for that so perhaps it\’s just an appealing idea. One that I may not really use but which is at least feasible.

Another thing I like about the WP app though is that it\’s easy to pull up multiple sites and shift back and forth. I\’ll have to see about doing SEO on it here eventually as that is something I need to address in the very near future.

It is pretty intuitive too on the S8 Ultra. I was able to shoot the image included with this post on my iPhone and then upload it to this site in a minute or two including editing it to black and white with Carbon.

In just the few minutes I\’ve been working on battery power though it\’s dropped by 12% on the battery level monitor. Not a great surprise with a 14.6\” screen. I\’m sure if i plug it in it will be find and the screen will likely be brighter. I do usually have it plugged in at home. It\’s USB-C and can share a charger with my Powerbook.

There are something I like better on the Powerbook or Chromebook. Like the save/update process. Although I might be able to repoduce that here by simply switching to a web browser. In the app when you do an update it closes the post and you have to reopen it. Not a deal killer though.
